Books by the Beach Cancelled

After recommendation from the government to avoid social gatherings, Heather French, Festival Director, has made the most difficult decision to cancel April’s Books by the Beach. After months of organisation and high audience numbers expected it’s a huge disappointment, but she has to put the health of visiting authors, hosts & audiences first. Heather said, “The most important thing is for us all to stay safe and well. Ticket refunds will be available at Stephen Joseph and Spa Complex Box Offices.”  However, if you feel you can donate the cost of any tickets bought it will help enormously to defray the expenses Books by the Beach now faces.  Anyone who has attended any of the talks and events organised by Heather in the last 6 years will know what a huge debt of gratitude we owe her for her huge achievement in bringing nationally and internationally renowned authors, politicians, explorers and others to our small town of Scarborough.  Thanks for the memories, Heather!
