Going Batty!

There was lots of excitement on Friday at Newby and Scalby Library and Information Centre when everyone went a bit batty!
Nick Gibbon, from the East Yorkshire Bat Group, gave a talk about bats and there were lots of batty activities for children to do, including a bat colouring competition.
The highlight of the morning was Kirsty, the live pipistrelle bat, brought along by Geoff and Mary Wilson, her licensed keepers. Kirsty was found and rescued last year and is unable to fly because of a damaged wing. She has been nursed back to health by Geoff and Mary and was happy to sit on Mary’s hand being observed at close quarters by fascinated children and adults alike.
