Norman Bear

Norman Bear is the mascot of the library’s Bookstart Bear Club.  His book club is open to all children aged under 5 years.  Every member receives a small knitted bear when they join, made by the Crafty Articles group that meets in the library. A card is kept in the library for each child on which they can choose and place a sticker every time they visit.  After 10 visits they receive a free board book.  There will be regular events for club members and Norman will be delighted to see them!

Norman Bear’s Storytime is on Wednesdays from 10.15 – 10.45am.  It’s free and there’s stories, rhymes and songs and sometimes a visit from a special friend like Kathy Seabrooke with her music and instruments.

Young Reader Peter won the competition to name the Book Start Bear.  He chose the name Norman and is pictured here with his Mum and Norman the brown bear.  Norman is also pictured with the club’s Gruffalo Story Sack.
