Library Re-Opening

Scalby Library will become a Community Library on 1 April 2017. It will be closed for re-organisation until 9 April and re-open at 10am on Monday 10 April. At 11am there will be a re-opening ceremony in the presence of the Mayor and Mayoress of Scarborough, County and Parish Councillors and various supporters, volunteers and members of the library. A ribbon will be cut by Mrs Dorothy Woodroffe, a library member since 1947 who has used Newby and Scalby Library since it opened in 1964. She will be assisted by Alexandra Zammit, a young library member whose enthusiasm for the library and desire to keep it open impressed the Trustees when we first started looking for volunteers last year.

There will be refreshments and a cake, live piano music from Mr Jack Jowsey, and a second-hand book sale. We will also be holding a raffle with prizes including book tokens, Proudfoots’ vouchers and a signed hardback copy of Anne Cleeves’ latest novel in the Shetland series, Cold Earth, as well as 3 of her other novels.
